This is what we were like today in sailing:
We went super fast and were heeling (it makes the boat go faster sometimes) for a good portion of the time. I was way over the side of the boat. EXCITING!! Once I turned too fast and then lots of water came in the boat and my shoes were soaked. But other than that it was all good :)
Happy June! In 20 days I start work in NYC. A strange and scary thought. I will have no friends and no time to make any. If you are in New York, though, stop by and I will give you a place to crash even if I can't provide actual company :D

heat
Whenever it gets hot here (high today: 97 F), the entire campus degenerates from its usually active state into a sluggish and torpid mass. Students stop playing tennis, biking, even going outdoors. No one can concentrate on studying because of the heat simmering in their un-air conditioned dorm rooms (yes, that's right, not a single dorm on campus has AC). People either escape to the cooled classrooms on campus, or close their windows, pull their curtains, and lay low in their rooms until the sun sets.
I, being too lazy to find a suitable building to escape to, always opt for the latter. Today I idled in my room looking up restaurants for 5 hours, ate a lot of ice cream and took a cold shower, and am now blogging. Yes, I'm from Texas, but Texas has air conditioning EVERYWHERE! I am spoiled. And the heat makes me sleepy.

books
I have read 71 of them since the beginning of sophomore year!
Unfortunately, since my to-read list continues to grow, I have only managed to cut it from 42 to 37 books long. Darn. I need to waste less time.

grilled cheese
Sitting in Old Union right now, semi-studying for photo midterm tomorrow. I got a grilled cheese sandwich to keep me company, and it is delicious. I know that American cheese should by all means be disgusting, but sometimes it tastes so good!

tales of a foreign land
Back from Korea, happy and rested and full of delicious foods.
Among the highlights of the trip were climbing a mountain (there was even snow!), trekking through lava tube caves on a volcanic island, soaking in one of the most famous hot springs in Korea (which was nude, which was slightly strange at first, but which ended up being ok :D), visiting a fish market in the port city of Busan, shopping for scarves, exploring Seoul, and still managing to get 8+ hrs of sleep every night. Oh, and Singapore Airlines.
And FOOD!! But I will write more about that later. That must be accompanied by pictures. In the meantime, it's 3:30am and classes start tomorrow so off to bed I go like a good girl.

verdict on viennese ball
Pretty good this year -- fun, because I knew a lot of people there; not too tiring, because I got a lot of sleep; and delicious, as always. They didn't play as wide a variety of songs as usual...swing, waltz, and tango was about 90% of it, with minimal salsa and polka, and almost none of anything else..
but besides that it went very well!

on the way to becoming a blob
eat, sleep, lounge around, repeat
math camp reunion a couple days ago -- elaine baked the most delicious mint and dark chocolate brownies, i probably ate like 2000 calories that night in brownies alone. was great fun seeing (and playing games with) all of my old math camp buddies one last time before i leave for work/the real world.
francis has also been visiting, which means more occasions for unhealthy eating. he brought chocolate. then we go to restaurants. sometime we might bake cakes. oh dear.
break is almost over :( :(

home and 30 rock
I got home last night, ate massive amounts of Peking duck, finished reading A Fine Balance, ate many chocolates, and finished the entire first season and most of the second season of 30 Rock. What a perfect first 24 hours at home.

post-college
Everyone is starting to figure out plans! It's very exciting.
- I will be at JPMorgan in NYC, but you already knew that
- Kristina will likely be at Cornerstone (economics consulting) in NYC with me!
- Clare is in Boston interviewing for Microsoft Startup Labs
- Francis got an offer at Optiver, a trading firm in Chicago
- Winnie and Yao will be going to medical school
- Peng will be taking a year off to research/volunteer/cure cancer/other between college and med school
- Tina and Vincent will be co-terming and getting Masters in EEs -- environmental engineering and electrial engineering, respectively
- Trevor will be going to grad school in biology at some as-of-yet undetermined but sure-to- be amazing school
And that's just about everyone. Except for some people who don't know what they're doing yet :) but pretty exciting huh?

poor neglected blog...
I've been alternating between 5 hours of sleep a night for half a week, and then 10 hours of sleep a night for the other half. It's probably unhealthy. But I am now COMPLETELY DONE with two of my classes......only two more finals to go :D Wohoooo.
I'm packing up my room, moving most of my stuff out on Tuesday and the rest of it on Saturday. Then next Sunday--exactly a week from today--I'll be on a plane on my way to China, for a weeklong vacation in Hainan before spending the quarter at Peking University in Beijing!
Extremely excited about the good food + no problem sets + karaoke + traveling. Definitely ready for a fun quarter.
